About Shiatsu Therapy and Acupressure
Horacio Roa (CMT) has been providing Shiatsu Therapy - Acupressure Treatments - for the past 35 years. His technique has become very effective and Horacio's approach in providing a Shiatsu Session is to help you with pain relief and tension related to stress, as well as to teach you how to use the pain you are experiencing to discover the cause of every symptom you experience. He provides a clear map to help your body regenerate faster, increasing your feeling of well-being and aiding several health issues at once.
He also provides classes to use Acupressure for self-help. Courses are available to learn how to teach Horacio's techniques.
Based on Acupressure, he has also created and specialized an Atlas Acupressure Therapy technique which is a technique that can immediately aid many symptoms caused by the Atlas bone putting pressure on the vagus nerve.
For a fast recovery process, it is also recommended to combine Shiatsu Acupressure with water therapy, a technique called WATSU.
About the Shiatsu Therapy Technique
Shiatsu in Japanese means 'finger pressure'; it is a type of alternative medicine consisting of finger and palm pressure, stretches, and other massage techniques. Shiatsu is a technique that helps people relax and cope with issues such as stress, muscle pain, nausea, anxiety, depression, and more.
Shiatsu draws on concepts from the field of Traditional Chinese Medicine. It is usually performed on a futon mat with clients fully clothed.
Acupressure [from Latin acus 'needle' + pressure] is an alternative medicine technique similar in principle to Acupuncture. It is based on the concept of life energy which flows through 'meridians' in the body. In treatment, physical pressure is applied to trigger points with the aim of clearing blockages in these meridians. Pressure may be applied by hand, by elbow, or with various devices.
Some medical studies have suggested that acupressure may be effective at helping manage nausea and vomiting, for helping lower back pain, migranes, arthitis, tendonitis, carpal tunnel syndrome, and other muscle-related issues.
Watsu is the combination of hydrotherapy and Shiatsu developed by Harold Dull. The work is done in skin-temperature water with both the practitioner and the client in the water, usually, a pool that is between 3.5 ft to 4 ft (100–120 cm) deep, (although it can be done in a warm sea). The work entails a lot of movement in the water, and it is used as a therapy for stress, insomnia, back pain, and other health issues. It has also been proposed as a therapy for fibromyalgia syndrome, and rehabilitating patients after a stroke.
This therapy incorporates the activation of the 'energy lines' through the pressure points, derived from Shiatsu.
Besides, the use of water during the therapy increases the sensations of peace, relaxation, and weightlessness, which greatly aid the stress release from muscles and aid the relaxation of the nervous system.
